Oxfordshire has a serious shortage of truly affordable housing, and the cost of housing in Oxfordshire is among the highest in the country.

The Oxfordshire Affordable Housing Programme completed in March 2022, at which point the partners had delivered 936 additional affordable homes.
Case study: Crofts Court
The Future Oxfordshire Partnership (now called the Oxfordshire Leaders Joint Committee) contributed funding to the Oxfordshire Community Land Trust (OCLT) for the construction of eight flats in Botley, near Oxford. The homes have been funded by the non-profit organisation with rental rates set at levels affordable by those on universal credit. Each apartment has a solar panel in order to promote sustainability and minimise energy bills for residents. The site is in a sustainable location serviced by regular and fast public transport connections to and from Oxford City Centre.
Current Status
Although the programme officially finished in March 2022, some schemes were incomplete at that point, including some which were yet to secure planning permission and some which had been delayed by the Covid 19 pandemic. A bespoke approach to the final schemes was agreed with the Department for Levelling-up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) in order to maximise the number of homes delivered by the scheme. Through this approach the programme is aiming to deliver its original target of 1,322 units.
